Transition is all about people themselves starting the move within their community to achieve more sustainable living.  Because it's a bottom-up initiative, it means we don't have the resources to advertise what we're doing widely in the media.  In any case, that isn't perhaps the best way for us to tell others about what we're trying to achieve.  Since it's people at the grass roots stimulating change, then the best way for us to encourage others to join us is by word of mouth, or even word of email!

Not everyone is happy advertising things but here are some ideas that you might want to try if you feel you would like to get others involved in what Transition Liskeard is doing.  We've created a small flyer which will fit two (four??) to a normal A4 page for you to use if you want to.

You could:
1.        Send a copy to friends via email telling them about how you're getting involved.  Not just friends in the Liskeard area but anywhere who you think might be interested.  It may stimulate them to start up a group where they live.
2.        Talk about Transition Towns when a suitable lull in the conversation comes up at any gathering you next go to, not just parties, but evening classes, book clubs, the gym, your choir etc.  If people seem interested you can ask them if they'd like a flyer with contact details which you just happen to have in a handbag or jacket pocket!
3.        If a club you go to has a newsletter, maybe you can put a few words in there about why you're involved in Transition Liskeard.
4.        Ask your friendly shop-keeper if they will put a few flyers by the till, or stick one in the window.
5.        Get you local library to put one up on their community notice board - in fact any community notice boards in your area.
6.        Chat to your neighbours about it, or put flyers in any houses around where you live.  If you invited your neighbours round for coffee to talk about it you might make friends of people you've only passed the time of day with for years!
7.        If you have a car, stick one in the window.
8.        At work have one on your desk or stuck to the side of your filing cabinet/pc.
9.        Put one in your window. Not much use if you live in a top floor flat, but maybe the birds will take interest and help come and eat the local slugs and snails!!
10.        Ask your local garden centre if you can put some by their till or on a notice board.
11.        If you belong to an organisation like the WI or U3A, then offer to give a brief talk about what we're trying to achieve, or just announce any meetings dates as they arise.
12.        Finally, just make a point of telling at least one person about the next meeting.  They may not come, but you just never know!
